Was the recently dismissed Royal Surrey Hospital employee connected to the board?

Not many of my readers would have heard about the dismissal of the Associate Director of Informatics from Royal Surrey Hospital for "breaching the Trust's standards of business conduct policy and our standing financial instructions."

"Police investigate fraud . . . " shouted the HSJ. Some others picked up the story as well - such as E-Health Insider (who are they?).

But not all the relevant details seem to have been picked up. There was the intriguing coincidence of surnames between the dismissed Mr Lewis and the Trust's Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Sue Lewis.


Is Peter Lewis the Deputy CEO' Sue Lewis' husband?


As Lewis is a common surname, MM decided to use her manicured fingers to dial a friend from a long time ago (you do not ask a lady any question that would give insight into her age or her weight; let us just say that it was >10 years ago).

This friend works at a nearby hospital, who was able to confirm that her information was that the two were indeed husband and wife.

I wonder which is the more awkward environment: the dinner table at the Lewis household, or the board table at the Trust?

    Sue Lewis is not a doctor. She is married to Peter though. Sue Lewis is currently on leave and has been since the story hit the NHS journal.

      I do not know Dr Sue Lewis, nor her husband but in response to Anonymous Feb 4, the assertion that Dr Lewis is not a doctor may not be correct. If she has a PhD, or a DPhil or a DBA, she is indeed a doctor. Many so called doctors in medicine only have an MBBS and not an MD. They should be referred to as Mr or Mrs or Miss etc.

    Sue does not have a PhD, DPhil or DBA. I can say categorically that she is not a doctor. medical or otherwise. I know both Sue and Peter.

    Heard that Sue has now been sacked from Barts and both her and Peter Lewis are on bail. The Police have referred the fraud case to the Crown prosecution service...

    The police have referred the case to the Crown Prosecution service. Court case in July. They have both being charged and are on police bail.

    Unfortunately, I do not have perfectly manicured friends in the Police Service. So I too am finding it hard to get any update. But Anonymous is right. Somebody must know something.

    Both Richard Moxon and peter Lewis in prison. Both have to pay back the money they stole from the NHS.
